2022 Solar Car Challenge - Race Day 1

On July 17th, during Race Day 1 of the Solar Car Challenge, the CCA Solar Car Advanced Classic Division team placed 1st in our division. We were able to complete 108 laps at Texas Motor Speedway, which is equivalent to 162 miles driven over the six hours race period, averaging 27.0 miles per hour.

All of the teams set up tents along pit row where we laugh and manage the team operations.

Teams line up for and enter pit row starting at 8:00 a.m. for the morning race session that lasts until noon. At that point, the all divisions except for the Advanced Division, are required to take a 2 hour break for charging, before returning for the 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. afternoon race session.

After a hard day of racing in the heat, we start the afternoon recharge process to get our car charged up again for the next day's race.
