Solar Car Team Update - For the Week of 1/13/2020

Highlights Of What We Accomplished Since The Last Update

• Three of our alumni team members who graduated last year, have volunteered to serve as interns for the Solar Car Challenge organization this coming July for our competition at Texas Motor Speedway.

• Set up of our new shop has really taken shape. I want to extend a special thanks to Morgan Caraway & Evan Rush (alumni from last year’s team), who came by the shop during their Christmas break home from college to lend a major hand to make this happen.

• The CAD training has been going extremely well and Mrs. Davis tells me that she has been really impressed with our students and how quickly that have been learning the material. I really appreciate Mrs. Davis and her son Ben (freshman engineering student at UT) for this special training that she has made available to them.

• Thursday (1/2) and Friday (1/3) - Jake, Kayson, Zach, Chris, Ryder, and Charles met with Mrs. Davis and her son Ben, to kick off the CAD training using the Solid Professor training curriculum for SolidWorks CAD software.

• Saturday, January 4th - Ben, Tommy, Emma, Chris, & Ellia, joined Brian, Tyce, Mark, and I to begin construction of the new Advanced division car.

• Saturday, January 11th

• Solar Car Workshop - Tommy, Langan, and Ellia, joined Brian and I to continue construction of the new Advanced division car.

• CAD training: Jake, Kayson, Zach, Ryder, and Charles met with Mrs. Davis and her son Ben, to continue the Solid Professor training curriculum for the SolidWorks CAD software.

• Sunday, January 12th

• Solar Car Workshop - Jake, Zach, and Chris, met with Mrs. Davis and her son Ben, to begin the effort of drawing up the CAD drawings that will be required for our 3/1 registration filing
