The CCA Solar Car program is a student focused, hands-on engineering project that allows students to design, construct and race a solar electric vehicle in a highly competitive environment with participating schools throughout the US. The spirit of the program is to allow students to develop skills in the areas of project management, engineering, fabrication, testing, and competitive racing in a highly collaborative team environment.

Solar Car Challenge

The CCA Solar Car Team participates in the Solar Car Challenge.  On odd years, there is a cross country race and in 2018, it was from Fort Worth, TX to Palmdale, CA and the CCA team placed 3rd in our division of 14 registered teams.  On even years, it is a closed course race at Texas Motor Speedway!

For 2020, the CCA Solar Car Team is hoping to raise enough funds to begin designing and constructing a new car for the highly competitive Advanced class of the Solar Car Challenge to be held July 12th - 18th 2020 at Texas Motor Speedway.
